- Fannin Battleground State Historical Park - On March 20, 1836, at this site, Colonel J. W. Fannin surrendered himself and 284 of his men after the Battle of Coleto. Activities in this day-use park include historical study and picnicking.

- Goliad State Historical Park - located on the San Antonio River, contains a refurbished replica of Mission Nuestra Senora del Espiritu Santo de Zuniga. Activities include camping, picnicking, hiking, fishing, boating, swimming, nature study, petting zoo, and historical study.

- Palmetto State Park - Named for the tropical Dwarf Palmetto plant found there, abuts the San Marcos River and also has a 4-acre oxbow lake. Activities include camping, picnicking, hiking, fishing, birding, nature study, pedal boat rentals, swimming, tubing, and canoeing.
