- Catholic Encyclopedia - St. Possidius, bishop of Calama, was a friend of St. Augustine for 40 years, and wrote a short life of Augustine. Dates of birth and death are uncertain. Possidius was consecrated as bishop in 397, and published his life of Augustine in about 438.
