Potholders
By chance, I found out that Metro Meals on Wheels were asking for donations of handmade (knit, crochet, or sew) potholders. They would be used by drivers or given to clients. They are looking to collect 800 by this coming holiday season (deadline Dec 5), but have an ongoing goal of 8,000. Look for the "Feature: Knit and Sew Potholders" pdf file listed under the Volunteer section on the website for more information.
After browsing Ravelry, it seemed like many potholders were cotton, acrylic, or felted wool. I know from experience that I didn’t want to use acrylic. (Acrylic would be fine for decorative purposes but not for actual use, since it melts.) It’s been a while since I knit with cotton, so I scrounged my dishcloth cotton stash for some possibilities. more »
I wanted to name this post “Steeking is Fun”
(Edited to Add: Grandma wants to say Hello to her neighbor Dorothy!)
But I thought that might scare away some people!
Here’s the dog pullover I’ve been working on since September. more »
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff
The dog sweater? It is done, steeks and all! I finished it last Friday. Pictures coming soon!
Meanwhile, here’s a few small items I recently made. Small projects are great distractions!
This baby hat is part of the test-knit mentioned earlier. more »
Dog Days
It’s been a while since I last updated you all on Dad. He was able to go home in early October (nearly a month after the surgery). Last week, he had trouble breathing and the doctors found fluid around his lungs, so he was re-admitted to the hospital for treatment. He’s still at the hospital as he is currently struggling with nausea and loss of appetite, but hopes to be able to leave soon.
Since September, I’ve been working on two projects, but haven’t blogged about them. One of them is a test-knit I volunteered to do: Polarbears’ Cables and Colors baby set. more »
Aberration
I’ve been struggling with a lack of focus. I can’t concentrate on my current projects. I desperately want to cast on something new, or even worse, buy new yarn. (It’s that time of the year, when fall catalogs full of beautiful, warm sweater designs and accompanying richly colored yarns arrive in my mailbox; it’s only natural to want to stock up ahead of the coming winter. Help!) My thoughts and habits are scattered all over the place. My project monogamy and singlemindedness of the past 9 months have completely dissolved.
I sort of fell off the wagon. How much is “sort of?” more »
Poodle Army
I don’t know about you, but I’d be a bit intimidated if I walked into a house or bathroom filled with these things.

(I wonder if I still have the pink poodle soap and toilet paper holders from my childhood somewhere in storage…)
Felt Mittens
So… have you seen the new Interweave Felt? Did you see what’s on page 32? more »
