Interdisciplinary Studies

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS) has a long history of involvement in interdisciplinary teaching and research. In order to better serve the needs of NC State and our society, the College aims to strengthen its current efforts and expand its offering of interdisciplinary programs. We are also committed to making interdisciplinary programs available to diverse and geographically dispersed populations through distance education.

To achieve our goals of better serving NC State students and the external community, coordinating responsibility for interdisciplinary programs is now housed in the CHASS Dean's office. There is no longer a separate Multidisciplinary Studies Division within CHASS.

Undergraduate degrees (both majors and dual-degree programs), as well as minors, are available in Interdisciplinary Programs. In addition, we offer two graduate degrees: a M.A. in Liberal Studies (MALS) and a Ph.D. in Communication, Rhetoric and Digital Media.
