- Astaro Internet Security - Applianced-based secure Linux distribution with firewall, VPN, anti-virus functionality. Some functionality is available for free for home use, the rest is commercial.

- Castle - Server distribution from ALT Linux Team. Improved security is achieved with the use of RSBAC, general privilege separation approaches, and certain pieces and ideas from Owl. Status as of August 2001: Castle Beta3 is available for testing and use.

- EnGarde - A server distribution engineered to provide the level of security required to create a corporate web presence or conduct business on the web. Security is achieved with the choice of software to include and by applying the principle of least privilege. Status as of July 2001: EnGarde Secure Linux 1.0.1 is available for use.

- HP Secure OS Software for Linux - A server platform that uses compartmentalization to contain processes to a known part of the filesystem and network. Also includes system level auditing and support for secure remote configuration. Mostly closed source. Status as of December, 2001: one has to contact HP for purchase information.

- Immunix - A server platform based on Red Hat Linux, hardened against several classes of attacks with the use of Immunix family of tools which includes the StackGuard compiler, FormatGuard and SubDomain. Status as of July 2001: the Red Hat Linux 7.0 derived Immunix 7.0 is available for use.

- Kaladix - A server Linux distribution that includes a collection of security hardening patches (mostly for the kernel), RSBAC, cryptography and general security software. Status as of September 2001: pre-0.4 is available for playing with.

- Owl - Openwall GNU/*/Linux is a server distribution. The primary approaches to security are proactive source code review and privilege separation, but several other approaches are used as well. Status as of July 2001: 0.1-stable available for use, but lacks important features intended for a final (1.0) release.

- Security Enhanced Linux - The NSA has made public a research prototype consisting of a modified Linux kernel and a number of utilities. The prototype has enhanced security-related functionality designed to demonstrate the value of mandatory access controls and how such controls could be added to Linux. This is not meant to be a complete OS distribution.

- Trustix - A server Linux distribution. Packages are chosen based on their security track record, and safe defaults are provided. Status as of January 2002: Trustix Secure Linux 1.5 is available for use.
